This is a charcoal of Martin Luther King Jr, for whom I have the greatest respect and admiration. What sort of absolute champion does it take to instigate change of the proportions that he did? It's so easy to elevate people like King to the status of flawless, infallable superheroes, but I reckon that iconic status sometimes makes you forget that icons are human, just as you are, and that you are capable of the same kind of awesome stuff - if you have the drive, the passion, the strength of character, the gut determination and resiliance.
I don't believe in change for the sake of change, passion for the sake of passion, and protest for the sake of protest - but it just sometimes strikes me that there is no half decent reason why my generation won't produce leaders like King...and that's a very exciting prospect
